Matrix Rules

Well it’s taken me longer than I would have liked, but I’ve finally put the Matrix Rules online.  They are pretty abstract, as you would expect, and I’m looking forward to seeing how they work in practice.  One of the issues I’ve had with the Matrix rules is that, in SHADOWRUN, the Matrix is an entire subsystem all to itself, and it’s a complex one too.  I don’t want to loose the ‘depth’ of the Matrix by over-simplifying it, but do want to speed it up. I’m hoping that the CORTEX rules will be the solution.

The key thing to remember with SHADOWHACK is that it is supposed to speed up playing Shadowrun.  If the Matrix rules slow things down deal with it all with one roll – as longer as the Decker/Technomancer is happy of course.  The other thing to remember is that only bother to roll if it’s dramatic! If the Decker wants to get the plans for the Oil Refinery the runners are going to destroy, and it just moves the story forward, then let him have them! A d10 Asset will do the trick.
