Initial Thoughts on Extended Actions and Time

One of the things that I think it’s important to encourage in Shadow Hack is the use of Extended Actions.  These might be to repair a car, hack a system, perform an investigation, or something that takes time.  I like the concept of a Time Die for this.

Here’s an example:

Hacking a System:

  • 1 Turn: D4
  • 1 Minute: d6
  • 10 Minutes: d8
  • 1 Hour: d10
  • 12 hours: d12

You decide how long you want to take and then add that die to your pool.  Like any other roll, if you roll a 1 then the GM can use it to create a Complication, or activate a Limit etc. Following the example, if I want to take only 1 Turn to get in, I add D4 to my pool.  If I get a one then the Complication might be SYSTEM-ALERT d8…
